Custom firmware teams operate much in the same way that an OEM’s software team would operate. They customize the AOSP code and manage integrating software that supports the various hardware components found in devices. Projects such as CyanogenMod, AOKP, SuperNexus, OmniROM, and more make their source code available openly. Most even develop entirely in the open.
